We've got a customer worried about a rumour that what's going on in Ukraine is going to mean we lose the Internet. They've got a supplier who's been told to print out everything they store on the Internet on paper and have been at it all day and night!
Important message - this rumour is not true! The rumour is they're going to "cut the cable" and disconnect us
OK so there's a few reasons this isn't true, the most important one is that the Internet was originally built by the military to withstand attacks - meaning if anyone "cut a cable" then traffic would automatically re-route another way across the globe.
The other thing is that even if they did damage enough cables and technology to cut us off, they'd be cutting themselves off too.
The third thing is that the only way this could ever possibly be something to be concerned about would be a targeted cyber attack - going way beyond Ukraine - and that would be pretty much an act of war!
